Path of the Kings
Five days following the path of the ancient kings — from the temples of Luxor to the sacred site of Abydos, the extraordinary astronomical ceiling of Dendera, and a starlit evening on the Nile. Egypt at its most atmospheric, taken at the perfect pace.
✔ Safe, vetted, and personally accompanied — from arrival to departure.
THE EXPERIENCE
What this tour feels like.
Five days allows you to move beyond Luxor and into the sacred Upper Egypt that most visitors never reach. Abydos is one of the oldest and most spiritually significant sites in all of Egypt — the Temple of Seti I contains some of the most exquisite reliefs anywhere in the ancient world, and yet few tourists make the journey. Dendera, with its intact astronomical ceiling still vivid with colour, is a genuine hidden gem. In between, there is the Valley of the Kings, a sunset felucca on the Nile, and enough time in Luxor to actually feel the weight of this place rather than simply photograph it. Five days is a sweet spot — enough to go deeper, unhurried enough to enjoy every moment.
DAY BY DAY
Your itinerary.
A suggested journey — every detail can be adapted to your group's interests and pace.
1
Arrival in Luxor
Private airport transfer and hotel check-in. A gentle first evening — a walk to Luxor Temple as it lights up after dark. One of Egypt's most beautiful sights, and the perfect beginning to your journey.
2
Karnak & East Bank
A full morning at Karnak — the largest religious complex ever built. Your Egyptologist will take you into sanctuaries few visitors reach, including the Sacred Lake. Afternoon free to rest or explore Luxor's bazaar.
✦
Optional: Private Sanctuary of Sekhmet
This sanctuary is now closed to the public and accessible only to small, pre-booked private groups. For those drawn to the more mystical side of ancient Egypt, this is an extraordinary and increasingly hard-to-find experience.
3
Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut & a Starlit Nile
The full West Bank experience — royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings, the Colossi of Memnon, and the extraordinary temple of Hatshepsut carved into the golden cliffs. As the light softens in the late afternoon, a traditional felucca takes you silently along the Nile as the stars begin to appear — one of the most peaceful and memorable evenings in Egypt.
4
Abydos — Temple of Seti I
A day trip north to Abydos, one of the most sacred sites in all of ancient Egypt — where Osiris was believed to be buried, and where the Kings List records the names of every pharaoh from the beginning of Egyptian history. The Temple of Seti I contains reliefs of extraordinary delicacy and beauty, remarkably preserved. A site that rewards slow, careful looking.
5
Dendera — Temple of Hathor & Departure
A final morning at Dendera — one of Egypt's best-preserved and most beautiful temples, dedicated to the goddess Hathor. The astronomical ceiling inside is vivid with colour that has survived for two thousand years. A hidden gem that most visitors never make time for. Private transfer to the airport for departure.
